Live@Edu Email

Holy Cross College moved to a new email system for students on August 4th! After careful consideration, Microsoft's Live@Edu service was selected.  If you are a student at Holy Cross College, please read this entire page so that you are familiar with the changes and many new features.

Benefits

  • Inbox size increases to an enormous 10GB.
  • Email attachments can be up to 20MB in size.
  • The ability to create and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents in your browser with no other software required, using Office Web Apps. Click here to learn more.
  • A massive 25GB SkyDrive of online storage space for class documents. Store them here and access them from anywhere. CLICK HERE or scroll to the bottom of this page to learn more.
  • More options for connecting other email clients, smart phones, etc to your HCC email.
  • A familiar webmail interface. It's an upgrade to the current Outlook Web Access that we use, and very similar in function to Hotmail.
  • Robust calendaring, blogging, and messaging systems.

What you NEED to know

Previous mailbox contents were not moved over
As per notifications from earlier in the year, we were not able to retain the contents of your inbox.  If you are a returning student accessing your email account after the switch your inbox will be EMPTY.  The contents of your old inbox are not recoverable.

Username and password changed
In the username box you will now use your entire email address, instead of just what is in front of the "@" symbol. If you are Jane Smith, you will login with username "jsmith@hcc-nd.edu", not "jsmith".

The new Live@Edu email system does not permit passwords less than six characters. Because we initially use the last FIVE digits of your student ID number for your password, we must use something longer.  Your password is now your entire NINE digit student ID number.

Webmail link will change
The link (or address) that you use to access your webmail has changed.  The college website, intranet, and other websites were changed to reflect the new location.
