Student Government Association
Mission Statement
The purpose of the Student Government Association is to provide all students at Holy Cross College with an opportunity for socialization, service, fun, and leadership development to complement the academic environment of the college as well as to influence college and community policies that affect student life. Specific functions of the SGA are executed by the standing committees which conduct student social events, athletic activities and intramurals, workshops, forums and community service projects.
Summary
Student Government is made up of two distinct groups: The Executive Board includes the SGA President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. With the help of the rest of the Executive Board, the Vice President directly oversees the Programming Board. The Programming Board has six members, each of whom oversees a different facet of student life at Holy Cross. Below, you'll find a brief biography of each of our SGA members for the 2011-2012 school year, along with a description of what they do around campus.

Name: Marie-Louise Resweber Age: 21 Major: Communications, Minor in Global Perspectives Hometown: St. Martinville, LA Email: mresweber@hcc-nd.edu As SGA Secretary, I take minutes of executive and programming meetings. I maintain a calendar of all SGA meetings and events, and help committee presidents schedule committee meetings. I also approve committee budgets for events and assist all committees in planning and executing events! |

Name: Mark Travis Age: 22 Major: Business/Communications Hometown: New Bremen, OH Email: mtravis@hcc-nd.edu As Treasurer of SGA, I oversee the financial side of all of our events. I work with the members of the Programming Board to help them manage their funds most effectively, and work with our Director of Student Activities to make sure all of SGA stays within budget over the course of the school year. |

Athletics Committee

Name: Kelly Murphy Age: 19 Major: Psychology Hometown: Youngstown, Ohio Email: kmurphy@hcc-nd.edu I'm in charge of the Athletics Committee, which takes care of all of the programming for the athletic events that Holy Cross puts on for its students. For example, the Athletics Committee runs Polar Bear Volleyball, all intramural sports, and various other tournaments throughout the year. It is a great way to get involved on campus and meet other students. Plus, it is a fun way to show your competitive side and win some cool prizes! Social Concerns Committee

Name: Molly White Age: 19 Major: Undecided Hometown: Silver Spring, MD Email: mwhite@hcc-nd.edu As leader of our Social Concerns Committee, I help bridge the gap between Holy Cross and the South Bend community. This committee reaches out to the community through events like Ghosts and Goblins, Easter Eggstravaganza, the Thanksgiving Food Drive and occasional Bingo nights with the elderly at St. Andre's Place. My duties also include organizing our winter and spring dances, the Mr. and Ms. Holy Cross Pageant, and also the Toys for Tots Auction that takes place in December. My goal is to maintain a family-like bond between all students, and to provide the best on campus environment for all. Commuter Student Association

Name: Thomas Lyon Age: 21 Major: Business and English Hometown: Valparaiso, Indiana Email: tlyons@hcc-nd.edu As Chairman of the Commuter Student Association, I schedule events like Pizza Wednesdays and breakfasts for commuter students throughout the year. I also keep commuter students informed about other events going on around campus. |
Tri-Campus Commissioner
Appointed at the beginning of the fall semester, the Tri-Campus Commissioner works with representatives from St. Mary's and Notre Dame to keep Holy Cross students up to date about what's happening on our neighboring campuses. The Tri-Campus Commissioner is also the main contact person for students from either of those schools who would like to advertise events or activities at Holy Cross.
